I grew up listening to Michael Jackson, The Beatles, 80's Genesis + Phil Collins, tons of classical music, some Israeli folk music, spanish guitar music.. by ages 9-10 i was heavily into pop via MTV, and when i was 13 I was turned on to Nirvana, and after 2 years i became a full on metalhead up until this day. I assume the pivot to Rock+Metal was a rebellion against pop/parents, that's why I expose my 6 year old to a wide variety of genres, so she can too become a metalhead in adulthood :)

Yeah the first part of vocals sound like its strait from original recording with all with all the original treatments, sounds really weird doesn't really fit the acoustic. Its gets better in other half of the song

I've always said that if you lived in southern San Diego there were two kinds of music: Oingo Boingo and everything else. And yes, Oingo Boingo was my first concert. The funny thing about that was I was listening to 91X at the time and I was outside a Ticketmaster just when a commercial for the July 18, 1986 Oingo Boingo concert at the Open Air Auditorium came on. Well, I took that as a sign so I immediately went into Ticketmaster and bought a ticket. The entire concert was a good time.

I've heard a bunch of their older tracks that I really enjoyed, but this song just doesn't do it for me. Too clean, too soft around the edges, Rick Beato's in the corner moaning every time there's a chord change

Got to see Periphery live back in November and Mike was the solo opener and he was a real treat! He and Spencer sounded great on the other track (Scarlet) too!

Hey Geebz, there’s this really really amazing and brilliant album called Six by Mansun that I really think you should try out. It is such a unique album and ahead of it’s time. It wasn’t well received back in the day but with time it has become an extremely underrated gem deserving of a good listen. I think you might really enjoy this one. The mix has a lot of layers and hidden depth and the songs themselves are complex yet sound flawless. The melodic ideas in the album are really amazing, guitar solos are really good, vocals and backing vocals have such great harmonies and in my opinion, the further you get in the album, the better the songs get. I highly recommend this album and would love a reaction, but I know a full album could be a long sit. I do think that it’d be really cool to see someone with your insight and knowledge to listen to this, I think there might be a good chance you’ll enjoy it quite a bit. This album has rapidly become my father and I’s favorite album of all time, and best produced album for us. And I never thought any artist could beat my previous favorite album from Tool, but this one did.

BRO the Scarlet acoustic version is SO EFFIN GOOD, check it out. This one is good but Scarlet came out much better imo. much more raw, organic and personal feeling

They played this and Scarlett live on tour when they did 2 shows in the same city. They are my favorite band and awesome live. Mike is also very talented.

These guys are my absolute favorite band. I got to see them in February on their first US headlining tour. Been a fan of theirs since Fall of 2011 and had the opportunity to have them sign the rare copy of their debut album I have been holding onto for so many years. Thanks for checking their new stuff out! I'll highly recommend you go back to the albums "Moments From Ephemeral City" as well as "The Tide, The Thief, and River's End," as both are my ultimately quintessential prog albums.
